Day-By-Day-Itinerary
Day-01: Apr 05 (Sun). Departure from Los Angeles to Lisbon on via Amsterdam
Day-02: Apr 06 (Mon). Arrival Lisbon - Fatima
Upon arrival into Lisbon. Meet with the Homeric Tours representative and immediately proceed on a panoramic tour of Lisbon; see the Belem Tower and visit the Monastery of Jeronimos. Both are masterpieces of Manueline architecture. The church has a Gothic look outside while the interior part is impressive for its boldness and the delicateness of the Renaissance decorations. Inside the monastery is the tomb of Vasco da Gama, a Portuguese explorer who discovered the maritime route to the East. Then travel towards Fatima for dinner and accommodations at the Fatima Hotel Hotel 4* or similar . (D)
Day-03: Apr 07 (Tue). Fatima
Breakfast.Guided sightseeing tour of Fatima.Visit the city where in 1917 three poor shepherd children, Lucia, Giaginta& Francisco witnessed the apparition of the Madonna. Visit as well the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima and the chapel of the Appartiions which houses the statue of the Virgin Mary and the crown which you can glimpse the bullet that sounded Pope John Paul II in 1981. Not far behind is the humble birthplace of the three shepherds, the Casa dos Pastorinhos. Visit Aljustrel where the children lived and the Valinhos, where our Lady appeared after the children’s return from prison. Rest of the day is for individual activities and devotion. No Coach. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight accommodations. (B.D)
Day-04. Apr 08 (Wed). Fatima – Coimbra - Salamanca
After breakfast, transfer to Coimbra, the former capital city for more than a hundred years, boasting the oldest university in Portugal drive by the University library and Romanesque cathedral before strolling down the narrow streets to the Carmelite convent where Sor Lucia, one of the Fatima Shephers lived and died. . After a bried stop in the border town of Ciudad Rodrigo, arrive in Salamanca. Short stop for lunch on your own. Proceed with the 3-hour guided tour of Salamanca, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. We start the tou at Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful squares in Sapin and one of the major monuments of the peninsular Baroque architecture. Visit cathedrals, medieval towers of the cathedral through exposure Ieronimus. Also visit the historic building of the University, the oldest in Spain. Also another visit the the Casa de las Conchas, famous for its façade decorated with hundreds of shells . Enjoy the city view from the balconies of their impressive lookout towers. Dinner and overnight accommodations at the Corona del Sol Grand Hotel 4* or similar. (B,D)
Day-05: Apr 09 (Thu). Salamanca - Aranda De Duero - Burgos
Breakfast at the hotel then, depart for Burgos stopping briefly in Aranda de Duero for a winery tour and wine tasting. Proceed to Burgos for dinner and overnight accommodations at the Rice Hotel 4* or similar. (B,D)
Day-06: Apr 10 (Fri). Burgos – San Sebastian - Lourdes
Breakfast at the hotel and proceed on a city sightseeing of Burgos, a city in the Northern part of Spain and is the historic capital of Castile. The city preserves very important proof of its colourful medieval story such as the magnificent Gothic-spanicsh cathedral, classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other important sites are Casa Miranda and Casa Angulo which host the Burgos Museum famous for its archeological collections. The most interesting house is Casa Cordone where all the Catholic Kings welcomed Cristoforo Colombo upon his return from his secnd trip to Anerica. Then, transfer to San Sebastian to walk along La concha Beach before heading towards France arriving in the evening at Eliseo Hotel 4* or similar in Lourdes. (B,D)
Day-07: Apr 11 (Sat). Lourdes
After breakfast, spend the day experiencing the spiritual aura of the fascinating town. In the 19th century a sanctuary was created in this lovely town surrounding the grotto where the Virgin appeared to Bernadette in 1858. Visit the Neo-gothic Basilica, the Rosario Church, the Underground Basilica, the via crucis and St. Bernadette’s home with the opportunity to take part in the various religious activities and end the day with a torch-lit procession before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight accommodations. Day-08: Apr 12 (Sun). Lourdes – Montserrat - Barcelona
Breakfast at the hotel before travelling along the French Pyrenean valleys, crossing the mountain range by way of Andorra. Enter Spain in the heart of Catalonia, Montserrat, a peculiar geological formation declared as a naturl park and picturesque from any angle. Here you will find the Marian Sanctuary of Montserrat with “la Moreneta” Dinner and overnight accommodations at the City Park Sant Just Hotel 4* or similar. (B.D)
Day-09: Apr 13 (Mon). Barcelona - Ferry - Civitavecchia
Breakfast. Our first Tour Escort ends here. We will have a full day tour in Barcelona.starting from Palaza Catalunya getting to Rambla, known for the muticulturism of its tourists. Get through the picuresque market of the Boqueria reaching the Gothic Barrion: an old medieval quarter where we will admire the Cathedral, the peculiarity of the buildings and Plaza del Rey. Walk toward the Ribeira which houses an old church dear to the Citizens, Santa Maria del Mar. Towards the afternoon enjoy the amazing works of the leading spokesperson of the Catalan modernixm movement, Antoni Gaudi. Admire the majestic and beautiful buildings built and designed by Gaudi. Tour continues to Pac Gruell, designed in the 20th century as a city-yard addressed to the bourgeoisie which now is a very popular touristic public park opened all year round. Dinner will follow at a local restaurant before we board our ferry to Civitavecchia via Grimaldi Lines. Accommodation in inside double cabin. Cruising all night (B,D)
Day-10: Apr 14 (Tue). Civitavecchia - Rome
Breakfast and lunch will be on board due to all day cruising. Approximate arrival at port is at 7:00pm. Disembarkation. (no porters yet which will be arranged later) Dinner will be at a local restaurant before we travel onward to Rome and stay at the Novotel Roma Est Hotel 4* or similar. (B,D)
Day-11: Apr 15 (Wed). Rome
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, enjoy a 4- hour guided tour. Visit the Vatican Museums, worldwide known for Raffaello’s works and for the Sistine Chapel. Then admire St. Peter’s cathedral with the biggest and most important dome of Christianity built by Michelangelo and stay at the St. Peter Square and the Benini Square. Before the tour starts, each will be provided with earphones and the tour leader is expected to return all, otherwise, group will be charge 75euro for each unreturned head set. Return to the hotel for dinner and accommodation. B,D)
Day-12: Apr 16 (Thu). Rome
Breakfast will be followed by a 7-hour guided tour. This tour will take us to the Navona Square, Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, photo stop at the Colisseum and see the Pantheon, the Forum. Short stop for lunch on your own and then proceed to visit the catacombs, Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Wall, Church of Mary Majors and the Scala Santa. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant and then return to the hotel for overnight accommodation. (B,D)
Day-13: Apr 17(Fri). Rome - Los Angeles
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to USA. (B)
